hey guys its time to change my muffler and was thinking of going with something a little louder. my question is would anyone know what size the muffler inlets/outlets are? i really dont have a tape measure and wasnt hoping on buying one today. 86 f250 2wd 351w if that helps...muffler looks pretty much like the original...live in vancouver the thing is pretty much rustless. thanks.
My tailpipe rusted out last week and the outlet coming out of the muffler was beat. I bought a new tailpipe at napa and took it to a muffler shop who replaced the muffler with a straightpipe and welded it all up. i highly recommend going with a straight pipe and no muffler. these cats muffle the sound enough. now it's got a nice purrrrrr.

i didnt notice any cats when i was under the beast checking it out...looked like headers into one pipe right to the muffler and out the passenger side behind the rear tire...i think straight pipe would be too much i dont want window rumbling loud just a nice rumble.
Something I've done in the past is use a muffler from a big block car and it rumbled a little more. My pipes were 2 1/4 and the muffler had 2 1/2, I just used adapters and it worked fine. If you go single I would say 2 1/4 and if you're going dual I would say 1 7/8 or 2 inch.
