Instrument lighting question

Just got a 96 Explorer and doing all the little things to it that have been neglected. Is there supposed to be an instrument light behind the headlight switch? There are indentations for off/park/headlights, but nothing illuminates. Took off plastic and metal shroud but can't see a bulb socket. Thanks!

Yes, there is a light for the switch. It is accessed by removing the trim around the inst. cluster/dash face.

I would recommend replacing all the instrument cluster lights at the same time. I personally recommend replacing them with LED lights too. That way you don't have to do it again unless you get a defective one.

I am trying to replaxe the the bulbs in the overheadmodule (for map reading etc., and I can't get the bulbs back into the sockets. Is there a "trick" to get the bullbs to go in or do I have to take the whole assembly out to be able to replace the bulbs? Can sure use your hellp.
