Unknown F100 Engine - need specs
We're testing some control software with a rebuilt F100 inline 6-cylinder motor. We have *no idea* which year the F100 was that it came from. All we have for sure is the engine number - 84DA6015AA. Is there anything else we can use to help identify it?
What I need to know is a whole bunch of technical data for the stock engine - max RPM, allowable temperatures, power rating, etc.
I've emailed Ford Australia and I'm about to try Ford USA as well if I can find a suitable contact page/address AND they're even interested in dealing with an F100 query. They don't seem to like Australian-format postal codes in the "Zip Code" field either.
Thanks for any help.
Geoff
Here's what I know about the EFI engines:
HP-150
max practical operating rpm 4000
optimum temp. range 180-200 degrees F
I've just found the contact details for the person who rebuilt the engine for us. Apparently it's from a 1984 F100. It's a carburetted model, *but* he's put a high-compression head on it. It sounded like 1:15 compression ratio. This apparently gives a maximum power output of 98kW.
Any takers on oil pressure values - min, max, nominal/optimal?
Coolant temps?
It's also mated to a standard gearbox from the same model and I need to know the gear ratios as well. I know that first is about 1:7, but the others?.
Thanks again,
Geoff
If the top plate is iron, it's probably a T-18 and the most likely ratios are: 6.32/3.09/12.69/1.00

Hard to tell whether it's iron or aluminium - I'll have to find a magnet somewhere around the lab/office. From the numbers and letters on the side (AP, among others) and the ratios, I'd guess it's the NP435. I'll confirm when I can find a magnet.
More thanks,
Geoff
