To make a long story short.
I was having torque converter or torque converter soleniod issues with my under 90,000 mile tranny. We did a live scan and were getting random slippage at a constant RPM.
I got a great deal on a Ford (heavy duty) remanufactured 30,000 mile tranny.
I think my plan now is to put this newer tranny in and upgrade my torque converter.
Im looking for reliabilty and towing performance.
Which torque converter should I get?
Is there any other tranny mods I should do before install?
Is this a newly rebuilt trans that has some mileage on it? Do you have any warranty left? If so, I would let Ford deal with it. Otherwise, put a Ford TC on it if you have to. I wouldn't do TC upgrades if the trans has miles on it.
The new tranny I bought has 30,000 miles on it and was a rebiult (heavy duty) unit installed and done by Ford.
The new tranny is technically under warray but not in my truck.
My current tranny that Im having TC or TCS issues with only has -90,000 miles on it.

I wouldn't put a new TC in that one unless it was a Ford unit. It cost me $400 to clean the TC when the trans died. The older the trans, the more likely it is to die
I was under the impression that the stock TC was the weeak link in my tranny.
It is. However, why replace it with an expensive unit? If you are doing a performance rebuild, sure. However if the trans is used, it is going to fail sooner than a new one. Why install an expensive TC on a suspect trans?
If you want the ultimate tranny, go to Fort Lupton and talk to Rocky and Rockin' S. He's a BTS dealer and installer. Don't get an ATS. Too much drama with those guys and their products.

I would love to be able to get a BTS but $ is a litlle tight. We just had twins (6 months ago) and the wifey hasnt gone back to work yet. Im so broke I cant afford to pay attention.
Ive heard of Rockin S Transmissions. Ill have to give Rocky a call and see what he wants to swap out these trannies and get some advise. I would do the tranny swap myself but I dont hink Ill get a weekend off untill after Halloween.
I got a upgraded tc from a company out of pheonix, az. I can't remember the name of the company but I found them through ebay by just typing in 4r100 torque converter in the search box. They were very reasonably priced and I have been very happy with the product.
