Has anyone ever experienced a power increase by just changeing the oil. I changed to a different oil and get better response and seems to be more power. I will post the info on the oil shortly.

I guess it may be possible if you were using crappy oil at first or the oil was real nasty

makes sense to me, the oil is the life blood of this machine, if it is to contaminated then it will not get the nutrients that it needs!

Our injectors do need oil to fire, raises some questions IMO but in all, it sure makes you feel better..

I took and looked at the containers of the new and old oil that I use to use.
There is not much info on them. A friend of mine is able to get the Jacobi oil for me. It's what they run in all there big trucks. The other Multigaurd is what I use to run but it just didnt seem to keep it's thickness after about a thousand miles. Pluss now the motor even runs a lot smoother and quiter. My dad tells me it's just in my head but I know I can tell a difference. Sorry trying to up load pics.

CJ-4 rated oil is fine for our trucks. It's possible the additive package in your old oil had started to break down. If the anti-foaming additive breaks down and the oil starts to foam, you will definitely notice a huge difference when changing the oil.

It's often common for a different oil to make a truck "sound" different. The same can be said for some fuel additives on certain trucks. Find an oil your truck seems to like and stick with it would be my suggestion.

How many miles / months on the old engine oil and was it low when you drained it?

About 3 months and 3,000 miles no not low but had to add 2 qt's over 3,000 miles. I tried Rotella when I first got the truck 3 yrs ago but I would have to add 3 qts. Motor Craft never had to add oil. The Multi guard stuff only ever had to add oil once of useing it for 1 1/2 yrs. We will see how this does so far its the best and its cheaper I havent got the bill for yet but it's cheaper than anything else.

I have always thought when your oil is really dirty or reached the end of it's life cycle so to speak, your injectors will let you know by the way the diesel functions/operates. I honestly believe the proper oil and change intervals are healthy for our 7.3's.

Don't want to sound like a wet blanket for your oil discovery, but I would like to offer a few thoughts for you.

1. Generally speaking, price should never be the sole determining factor for what you buy... and that goes for anything.

2. There is precious little info available on the oil you're talking about. I would be interested in seeing a technical data sheet... the MSDS sheet doesn;t really tell much about anything.

3. Jacobi Oil Services appears to be a reseller only, and the oil appears to be private labelled by some other company for Jacobi, so that means you might very well be getting the exact same oil you've already tried.

4. Rotella is an excellent oil (even though I know of better oils).

5. Whenever you change oils, you really should run three sets of oil change son the new oil before reaching a conclusion due to the highly variable differences in oil qualities and additive packages. It will take about three changes before you're really running on strictly the new oil and have purged out all the "stuff" from your previous brand.

6. If you're running visual comparisons on oils that are losing viscosity within 1,000 to 3,000 miles, you need to seriously consider spending more money on a better oil. Our High Presure Oil Pumps (HPOP's) are seriously aggressive on oil and will shear down an oil's viscosity faster than most other diesel engine designs (except for the 6.0L which is even worse).

... just my $0.02

And somehow Pete left out the part about sending a used oil sample to a lab for analysis if you really want to know how the oil and additive package are holding up. The lab analysis is cheaper than you would think. Many here use Blackstone labs, others get the testing done by Schaeffers.

I believe I remember him say that they call it Ersala or something close to this. And yes the order bulk oil and puts it in 5 gal conatainers. I dont know if you caught it earlier but they run this in all ther Semi's and all diesel trucks they have at least 50 trucks so i'm pretty confedent it's a good oil. They do have 2 Power strokes also and they seen improvements also.
