So I got my tires rotated about a month ago and today I noticed while washing my wheels that the dummy at the shop didn't put the tires going to same way that the directional arrow shows. How bad am I going to screw up my tires? Can they wait until the next time I have them rotated or is this something that is really bad? I don't know a thing about this.
Personaly..I would put them back on the right way.
I imagine the tread design is such that it's designed to prevent hydro-planing, and having the tread rotating the wrong direction might create a safty issue.
Could create some funky wear patterns too, since the tire is really only designed for one direction of rotation 99.9% of the time.
I would go back and get the tire dudes to put it right...or do it myself.
I'll be doing it myself tomorrow. Its just a pain in the butt to rotate these 37s by myself with a 3 ton jack and a lug wrench, but I learned my lesson this time.
Also, I drove about 800 miles before I realized this. Did I really mess up my tires? The wear looks normal, so I hope its ok.
When you finally get air onboard get one of these and an impact wrench, makes changing those 37's a breeze (somewhat anyway). I carry this and other tools in an old 20mm ammo can.
Its a struggle for sure. You have to position yourself just right and then its just a strong man competition. Usually I have a friend help me, today I did it by myself.
You'll need to shop around as I have found alot of places that sell a non-pneumatic jack for more then others sell the pneumatic. I paid $90 for mine. Also a few blocks of 4x6 or ? for soft ground when out in the field helps with the small footprint of the jack.
