I have a 2 tone F-150, dark red & white with a red interior. I need a suggestion on colors for this that are darker that will work with the interior. I am thinking one color dark maroon, but I do not want it to look geto with the bright red interior. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hang out at a magazine rack. Flip through car mags for pics of various color schemes. Dont limit your choice to just car mags though. I found my color scheme in a surfing magazine. Surf boards have a similar profile as a vehicle, long. There are good examples of ways to paint using 2 or 3 colors along the length of the vehicle.
Just one more thought. My vehicle was all white. I painted just the top one color and left the white on the bottom. I plan on keeping my truck so I wanted a color on the bottom that I could easily touch up and something that wouldnt show the dents as much. White is great for this. Also keep in mind that you can drastically change the appearance of your vehicle by changing the insert color. I assume you have the tradtional Ford paint scheme with white on the top and bottom and the center a different color or visa versa.
If we are suggesting colors and you are paying for it, I like that paint that changes color when you look at it from different angles.
For practical painting, You could always go with Black. It matches just about any color interior. But it does show the dings and scratches more than some other colors.
I am planning on getting my seat refinished with red leather and black trim. My truck is a bright red. I took some samples home and it matches pretty good.
Are you planning on keeping the truck 2-tone or are you wanting to go to one color?
If 2-tone, are you keeping either the white or red or looking to change both?
Are you planning on repainting the interior painted areas also?
I am thinking about keeping the 2 tone, my problem is that it has the bright red interior plastic and cloth, I need a color scheme that will go with that interior.
I suck at color matching, as my wift will point out when I dress myself.
I want something that will look nice, but be darker and still go with the red.
So far, the only thing I can think of that goes with "red" and keeping it two-toned is black. Black, white & red go great together. Very classy and classic looking.
Now if you want to see how well pink/green, purple/orange, blue/yellow and just about any other color combination mix, come take a ride with me on my hour + ride into work.
this may sound stupid, but....paint the whole truck john deere green and make the strip on the side JD yellow....wait....that won't match the interior. CaseIH red and black would work.
Well... how about a dark blue? maybe a light blue metallic in it? Have seen the drk blue and red combo before. Doesnt look all that bad. Of course you could always buy a seat cover, dye the carpet and dash to whatever color you want.
