Good Morning guys,
I may have the opportunity to go South and pick up a Honda CRV.
The Little SUV runs, but needs tires, windshield, etc, and I have never driven it.
Im faced with the option of either having these things fixed down there(about 400 miles) and driving it back,or driving my 07 F-150 down, getting a car trailer, and bringing it back.
The "rub" here is my baby has the 4.2,and automatic. Shes got just over 45,000 on the clock.
I have towed before with my old 97(same powertrain),but am somewhat concerned about the load on the truck.
The trip is 99% interstate, and relatively flat.
Suggestions please!
No suggestions needed you should be OK to pull that car home. Just take it easy don't be in a rush to get anywhere and be nice to the pedal. If you have an O/D off switch make sure it is off and then go on your happy way.
I guess a suggestion I would make is if you are about to change your oil but its not quite time yet do it before you leave and have fresh oil for the trip home. Also check your other fluids, air filter, and any of the other routine stuff and you should be just fine.
ditto that. Are you going to use a trailer or one of those dollies that you just put the front wheels up on? That would be even easier to pull I think.
Probably will just make arrangements to get a U-Haul Car Hauler. The device your speaking of is a "tow dolley",and while Id like to use one,I dont trust the tires on the CRV,but I also dont want to buy some tires from a place thats 395 miles away.
Getting a warranty claim processed could be somewhat of a bitch......
