Throttle spacers will give some improvement on some carb and TBI systems increasing the plenum area allowing better flow of the fuel air mixture. On a Multiport system they have no effect since the fuel is injected at the end of the plenum into the head.
Some produce a nasty whistle..

cam or if you can somehow find some GT40 heads for cheap...
GT40 heads are what i'd do first, they are hard to find though, took me 6 months to find some at a decent price, $250..... most people think they are gold, and in someways they are for mild engine builds...
i found a set of the cast iorn ones on craigslist for 200 or 250 but i didnt have the cash at the time
i was pissed cause i had JUST put some 110 bucks in my exaust and i had to also make a insurance payment
yeah no kidding, its stupid because ill put on these mods on and tweek the motor, then come somg time ill change it to stock, then right after ill put it all back on
not trying to hijack here but what about the spacers that go below the upper and lower intake?
...The intake spacers work very well , some use them for more clearence , but the main reason is they keep the upper intake cooler , the spacer stops the heat transfer from the motor & lower intake...Lew
