Throttle spacers will give some improvement on some carb and TBI systems increasing the plenum area allowing better flow of the fuel air mixture. On a Multiport system they have no effect since the fuel is injected at the end of the plenum into the head.
Some produce a nasty whistle..

not trying to hijack here but what about the spacers that go below the upper and lower intake?

still no good. the only reason the carb spacers work is it gives extra length for the fuel and air to mix.

the main reason people use those is to fit bigger valve covers on the engine, likely to clear 1.7 RR's mated with a big cam.

cam or if you can somehow find some GT40 heads for cheap...

GT40 heads are what i'd do first, they are hard to find though, took me 6 months to find some at a decent price, $250..... most people think they are gold, and in someways they are for mild engine builds...

yep.... GT40 heads dont have the smog hook ups in the back of the heads.... not sure if that will cause you to fail or not...

honestly in CA you are extremely limited....

Phenolic intake spacers do work.

TB spacers... Do not.

Since when do gt40s not have thermactor ports in the back?
GT40P heads do not.

"air is sent into the heads only briefly on cold start up, so not having it there causes no real issues other than the visual pass."

BTW here are some GT40 heads and lower intake forsale.

As you can see they DO have thermactor ports

...The intake spacers work very well , some use them for more clearence , but the main reason is they keep the upper intake cooler , the spacer stops the heat transfer from the motor & lower intake...Lew
