As the title states. Looking for EFI 460 owners. I put a used Vortech unit on my 96 last year and i just blew the front oil seal. I have heard that there can be an oil drain issue when the drain goes into the valve cover. That i should go to the timing cover or the pan? Any one else have oil draining issues?
Is your drain having to run uphill? if it's anything like a turbo then it's always nicer to be able to run the drain to the pan, but as long as your drain isn't trying to run uphill or parallel then you should be fine. If you don't want to deal with that and having drain problems then put a pump on it and you shouldn't have drain problems anymore.
I'd say that's plenty of drain in my book. So about the only way to get better draining from it is to drain it back to the pan or the front cover. I kinda doubt your drain is a problem though. How many miles did the charger have when it blew the seal?
Vortech finally called me yesterday. They got to looking at my head unit. And while i had them on the phone i asked them about the oil drain. They said all their new kits drain to the pan due to the old way(into the valve cover) was causing problems. So i think i am going to have it drain straight down into the timing cover. I know this is what 1st gen lightning owners do
I am unsure of the milage as the s/c came from a junk yard
Draining to the pan or timing cover is always a good idea. Good luck buddy. Hope ya get it back going soon. Sounds like a bada$$ truck. should post some pics/vids of it
Cool. I just bought two used kits myself. Another member here already has first dibs on the one I'm going to sell after I get one installed. I'm excited.
How much boost are you making? These ones have 2" pulleys on them for my high altitude. Only makes 5psi at 6000ft on stock 460, from what I hear..
