Had all the fluids in transmission changed. We took it to have it hooked up to a computer again because it was still jerking. The computer showed no codes! We put some Lucas Transmission additive in it. When it jerks if I turn the overdrive off it will stop it. Anybody have any ideas what would cause this?
I think unless someone here reads this and has had the EXACT same issue or Mark Kovalsky reads this, it may be time to head to a reputable transmission shop and get their opinion on if it is a transmission issue or not.
I can't read anymore of your posts because your avatar makes me cold.
So it does the jerking just when it is cold, at what speeds? When you leave your house when the truck is cold are you driving threw town slowly or do you jump on a hwy. right away? When it starts jerking what happens when you let off the gas or give it more gas?
This sounds very similar to a misfire issue commonly caused by plugs or plug wires. This may have been asked already but have you had any or all of the coils changed? Plugs changed?
*edit, reread the OP.
Looks as though you changed the plugs but not any of the coils. If fords coils are still as finicky as the coils were in my 00 lincoln LS I would change them all! When I first had coils going out on my LS it would do the same exact thing. It would be jerky and sputtery on cold start ups and sometimes stall when in gear at a dead stop. Once warmed up it was fine though.
So on that note and seeing that you are over 160K miles I would recommend replacing all the coils even if they look 'ok'. The coils in my LS also looked 'ok'.
Well we took the ex to the Ford Dealer this morning. They hooked it up to the computers and checked out the transmission. The problem was.....drum roll.....a coil pack!! But it has to go back in the morning because for some reason now my air conditioner isn't working. I don't know if they knocked something loose or what. I'm just glad it wasn't the transmission they said everything was fine with it :-) Thank you everyone for your input I really appreciated it.
Because the rpms would go up and the converter would unlock. The coil miss is most noticeable at low rpms and very very noticeable with the converter locked up.

BIG TIME! that is what i went through, and finally narrowed it down to the coil boots.
i'd honestly say before you drop a bunch of coin on ALL new coils, try the boots first (apx $40 at your local parts store) and that may cure the issue.

I guess I keep thinking that this happens in the driveway and when he would push the OD off button it would stop.
See, that damn avatar just messes me up! I freezes my brain!
