It appears to me that the factory 7 pin trailer plug does not offer a hot 12V pin for aux lighting. My horse trailer uses the center pin for both back up lamps and interior lighting. Does anyone have an easy way to add a constant 12V to the factory center pin of the 7 pin jack?
look in your owners manual or a wiring diagram for your year truck but i am sure that there is a 12v hot wire in the plug but it is only hot with the key on. the diagram i have says it is an orange wire but that may be an early superduty. i dont know what pin it is.

I would guess someone fiddled with the TRAILER wiring. the center pin IS backup..
open the connector and move the wire over to the right pin..
and if the hot pin is not hot on Key on, then fix the fuse or relay..
