Texas State Inspection.
After reading all the inspection horror stories many of you are going through to get your trucks inspected I thought I would tell you what a state of Texas inspection consists of for our 7.3's.
1. Insurance is mandatory in Texas so the first thing he wants is a proof of insurance card.
2. Brake check (if it can stop all is good.)
3. Make sure windshield wipers work.
4. Honk the horn (I should have hooked the train horn up to the horn on the steering wheel to liven things up, but oh well!)
5. Check that headlights, taillights, blinkers and brake lights work.
6. Slap a Inspection sticker on her and hand the inspector $14.50.
In and out in under 15 minutes. God I LOVE Texas.
When the inspector finished he asked me what mods it had since he saw the "Built by Ford - Modded By The Brotherhood" sticker on the rear window (Thanks JIM!!) He also asked if it had a supercharger or a turbo on it because it whisteled out of the tailpipe.

Here's my last inspection.
1. Pull truck into garage bay.
2. Check odometer
3. Turn off truck
4. Print inspection report (safety only no emissions)
5. Pay cashier (i forget how much, I think its like 10 bucks or so)
My buddy owns this place and obviously hooks me up. I have tint on the front windows what is too dark, and he said "All I know is that sh@# wasn't on there when you came in"

When I wrenched on cars for a living, we had inspections. Dont know how, but it was preety much voted out in a year or so. All of the service stations gots together and fought to have it reinstated.Their reason, they had not paid off the equipment yet. We no longer have emmisiion testing.
Now, if I had a F-350 here, they automatically consider it a Commercial vehical ( at least when I had bought mine a couple years back )./ So I hade to take it to a weight station and weigh it, then sign something telling them it was not a Commericial vehical. She came back with. YOu best not tow anything that looks commercial, or when you get pulled over you will pay heavy.
The commercial inspection is an 'Everything" check
brakes,
windows
Fire extinguisher and everything else you can think of.
Right now, the DOT is pushing for DOT stickers on the F 350's, or even 250's pulling trailers, buisness trailers, but trailers jus tthe same. I am starting to see DOT stickers on lawncare trucks.

They never even looked under mine, but then again he thought my supercharger was causing the whistle.
