I have no rubbers in place or the hood latch on. Not sure how these would affect the corner from going to far down but will buy new rubbers and install hood latch...just cause it may work!!!! Mid Fifties cat. shows two upper hood bumpers...where do these go????
One other area I can't remember was how the hood lined up with the cowl vent area. I would like a pic of the vent area taken from the center of the hood.... if some can do that for me. As you can see my hood is slightly lower in front of the vent...thinking this may need to go up.
On the "No Limit" kit, the front is mounted by means of two threaded heim joints. You can adjust the hood up or down to align it with the fenders by turning the nuts up or down on the threaded shafts. I hoped I explained that right. Anyway it was one of the things that helped me choose the front tilt hood kit.
Thanks but no help, as I bought the CPP kit from Mid Fifty, it doesn't have that adjustment.

there is a gasket that goes across the cowl there, and little rubber bumpers to replace the gasket that gets caught by the rear lip of the hood..
there are also rubber bumpers in the track on the fender. these are the ones being mentioned before..
On the cpp kit, the hood to cowl height is adjusted by the 2 nuts on the roller guide. Sounds like you need to loosen the locknuts underneath and tighten the ones Under the hood, which will raise the rear of the hood.

front of the hood is his problem at the fender.. (I got it wrong too!)..
don't understand the problem.. hood should align sitting there without the kit.
Sorry for my poor explanation but here is a pic that should help.
All my heights and gaps are good all the way around the hood except here! If I put a 3/4" spacer under the corner all is good even the leading edge lines up with the front of the fenders. This is all without the latch or fender bumpers installed. I have everything square and level...I think.
1. in stock the rear hinges hold the hood left/right..
2. in stock, the front latch holds the center up/down.
3. on the fender top edge, in the channel where the hood sits are some rubber bumpers.. they help hold left/right and up/down wiggle.
I bet u are missing 2 & 3.
my hood doesn't move once closed and latched.. there is no up/down/left/right movement at all..
Well I installed the latch and the front actually lined up very well. Then tried to adjust it a little better and then I lost the gap at the drivers back corner and all went down hill from there. I spent all day getting it back but developed other issues. Taking the night off to re-think what cause this new stuff to raise its ugly head! With proper gaping all around the passengers back corner needs to be assisted into its roller track??????? Don't ask me why. Hood under stress?
Well I finally had time to get the hood looking real good with latch and rubbers in. Nice gap all the way around and it opens and closes good with proper alignment. Funny thing, I couldn't get the '54 hood latch to work on with the '55 hood, they looked the same except for the longer handle on the '54 (which is what I wanted) but it kept getting stuck on the hood pin. Question, seeing as most people have a heck of a time with the hood eating the cowl lacing when it moves forward, I was wondering if it would help to install 3/16" round stock under the rear hood lip so it moves smoothly over the rubber with out cutting into it? It could be just stitched welded right? Also for me it would help to stiffen up the rear of my hood as it is somewhat flimsy with only the right angle in the hood metal. Any thoughts on all or any of this idea???
CdnWillyG, so you got the hood to fender issue resolved? Did the fender bumpers do the trick?
My old hood (franken-hood, from hellsville..) was cracked in 3 different places at the back lip..so I spent some time forming a length of 1/4" mild steel round stock "to the cowl',.. then stiched it across the underside of the hood after carefully getting everything as straight as I could and clamping in place..I think it helped out. After installing, I then took my time welding the cracks shut, since nothing was moving ..it ended up being straight.Just lucky I think.
I seem to remember the instuctions recommend leaving the cowl seal off..I haven't crossed this bridge yet..
