I dropped mine a total of 5" by cutting 2" from the coils and installing 3" drop I-beams. To do an alignment you have to bend the I-beams to adjust camber. not too many places do these alignment any more. I dont believe cutting 1" off the coils will hurt anything.
Not only will not hurt anything -except the ride a little- you probably won't even notice 1" . There are 2 & 3" lower coils around which have good spring rate, etc. I think some have even used lowered springs for a 300-6 instead of 352 and got a little more. I had 2" lower springs and cut a half a coil (still have actually, and not a lot of travel left) then added the 3" drop I beams.
I HAVE A 68 2X4 AND THE FRONT END WHERES THE OUTSIDES OF THE TIRES PRETTY QUICK i HAVE ASKED AROUND FOR A FRONT END ALIGNMENT BUT THE ONLY ONES WHO DOES IT WANTS QUITE A BIT AND THEY ARE ABOUT 40 MILES AWAY. DO YOU GUYS THINK IT WOULD BE OK TO CUT A BE OFF THE SPRINGS A LOWER IT A BIT? i AM JUST LOOKING FOR A 1-2 DROP JUST TO EVEN UP THE TIRES WITH THE FENDERS A BIT. DO YOU THINK THIS WOULD FIX MY ALIGNMENT PROBLEM OR MAKE IT WORSE?

Hi Hawk - wheels are from Billet Specialities, "Rasp" model, and are 17x8 front (4.5" backspace) 17x9.5 rear (5" backspace), backspacing was very key, and double checked three times before ordering. Haven't seen many others like 'em and everyone to date was "Wow" when they saw them.
CACWBY your truck looks sweet can u tell me where you go tthat grill? if not can u get me the specs for it? I have been wanting to do a trick grill for my truck and yours is diffentley trick.
Hey Trev thanks for the info.
I know what you mean by the backspacing being key. I'm dealing with that issue right now.
I see you did different spacing on the rear. Is the rear axle width different? My current wheels on the rear sit tucked in a bit compared to the front.
I'd like to get all four sitting in the wells the same, which it looks like that's what you have done.
One other thing are you getting any tire rub, front or rear?
Hey thanks for kind words. I have some answers-maybe. The grille is an optical illusion. It's just a stock steel grille with center bars painted brushed aluminum, and the surround and headlights all body color and vertical bars are satin black. I don't know what my offset is, I think its the backspacing deducted from width. Reason I have less backsapce on front is I did the Master Power Disc Brake conversion on front and my tread width increased. As to rubbing, etc., Truck has Zero miles at this point (OK I drove a block from Exhaust Shop to Upohlstery Shop), but from what little I have driven I haven't had rubbing. Upholstery is almost done, it's really looking good, I'll get some new pictures up when it's done next week.
Grille looks awsome. Was wondering what it was made of my self. I have another Question for CACWBY. Where did ou get the billet dash insert? That thing looks goooood. I have wanted something like that in my truck when I ge to that point. But, I am going to be more race oriented, so I may not worry to much about it. Anyway thanks for making my day. Great looking truck.
Trev, thanks for posting back all the answers to our questions.
That's one fine truck you have there. I hope mine can look as good one of these days soon.
