ABS sensor?? Wheel Bearing??
First off let me say I appreciate all you knowledgeable truck and mechanic gurus for spending time helping all of us with all our problems, you are awesome to post your expertise.
Second, I haven't posted a thread on this site for a long time (NO Problems-thank God) but wanted to tell you that I read religiously on FTE for things to look for and to look out for as I have an aging beauty(2000 F-350 7.3) and want her to look and run great for a very long time and thank you all for that as well.
Now down to my problem ( And I'll do this as succinctly as possible and still give you the background you may need to help me diagnose, and take into consideration, I have not had one glitch in the speedo or my OD light flashing at me, and the brakes have performed as normal( no pulsating or pedal to the floor as some of the threads have stated)
1. 3 months ago new front brake and pads rotors - slide pins and all parts greased well and brake squeal adhesive applied to back of pads- alls well following
2. two weeks later brake squeeling - Take apart and re-lubricate slides, brake clips and score rotors-good to go!!!
3 Good for a month- squeal comes back- talk to Autozone about brake pad hardness, they tell me they haven't had any problems, so I just deal with the noise( Gate guards here at Hill AFB hate to see me coming)
4. Two months later notice ABS light solid on- Read FTE posts on ABS and take VSS out of rear Punkin and clean it-ABS light goes off- fixed.
5. Not so fast, I perform a power steering flush as I read this site it would fix my problem with low or no power steering assist a idle speed steering- steering issue fixed.
6. Now ABS light comes back on- intermittent though, can drive for a few miles its off, next thing you know, back on so I go buy a new VSS sensor and install it in the rear Diff, same result, intermittent ABS light on

7. Check front wheel bearings for slop or play, seem tight as can be(pulled on them hard too, and I'm a stud)-LMFAO
so I rule out front ABS sensors being wiped out by bad bearings
So finally down to it- Question 1- Haven't read one thread where anyone has talked about a "front wheel bearing sensor" was bad ( Is this possible?) And how much slop would they have to have to cause damage to ABS sensor. Is it possible to have bad bearing and not be able to feel slop or play? 2. read one post where the ABS module connecor under the hood was loose (will check this tmrw)
So After you drink three beers to read this, has anyone, or does anyone have a similar issue?? Any inputs would be greatly appreciated
I pull boats and trailers all over the Western states and seeing a dash light shining at me makes me nervous!!!
Thanks for any inputs all!! Cheers...
