Hi Guys,
Just got back from a great vacation trip. The truck ran great without any real issues coming up. Here are the issues that happened.
Get up and get ready to go out and tour. Turn over truck...nothing. Turn over truck...nothing. Begin to feel panic well up in head. What is going on. Mumble to wife..."I don't know what's wrong!" Turn over truck...nothing! Panic rises. 11 year old daughter in back seat says, "Dad, did you set the DP security?" Issue solved! Red faced Dad gives daughter lots of thanks!
Get up and get ready to tour for the upmteenth time. Day before ran the truck for over 5 hours of up and down, turn, slow, shift, turn, up and down. As we are going out long drive CEL light flashes and truck falters but picks right back up. It happens again in just another 20 feet. Back to cabin. Check oil and find it low. Refill and everything runs great from there on.
Our trip ran from home in MI to the Black Hills in SD and back. With a few stops here and there. I'll throw in some pictures for ya.
From the looks of it I can only load three picks. But here they are. The first is Laura Engalls Wilder home in Pepin, WI. The second is Laura Wilder home in De Smet, MN and the last is in front of the Mall of America. (Remember I have an 11 year old who likes these things). I'll post some more in an album in the next few days.
Best mileage: 22.5 worst: 20.8 in Black Hills.
Sounds like a good vacation. Kudos to you for doing things that your daughter likes. Mine will be 11 next month so I understand where you are coming from. I hope that you paid the mechanic for her troubleshooting the no start with an ice cream
The stumble sounds like the CPS if the SES light was on there is a code. If you can read them I would if not I would change it out the yare $25 from Ford or Riff Raff and I think Guzzle have the original IH ones.

When my CPS went out, I didnt get the CEL light. It just farted then died.
Although....When I did get the little falter with CEL then running fine again, it was my UVCH's. Got that taken care of too.
OH!~~~ You owe yer mechanic a new pony for fixing the no start prob! hehe
Glad you guys had a good trip, but there is no way possible a dually get's 22mpg!?!? I know you don't have 4x4 or a auto tranny, but jeez, you're getting 9-10 mpg better than me (or most duallys) please tell me your secret!
Nice pics and truck! I remember the Badlands from years ago. They sure were interesting!
On a side note,
How is your smoke with 60T at lower rpms? I always get a giant black cloud of smoke unless I am barely in the throttle and it is driving me up a wall. Some people love their smoke; I can't stand this much. Ain't even luggin er.
Oh yah! Seeing those pics makes me wish we were back there too. We went in June and had a blast. The kids were hanging out the windows like dogs gawking at all the sites. We had a few hickups out there too with the wheel bearings going out, but it was an adventure. When we tell our friends about our trip the kids always add "and Dad had to change the bearings in the rain!" Glad you are back safe and had fun.
