Getting a dptuner, need suggestions.

I am looking at getting a tuner, but I would like to keep the price down (I know I am totally different from EVERYONE)

I was wondering what the diff was between 60econ and 80 econ (besides hp, come on I am not a TOTAL idiot). I would assume better mileage using the 60? Or is it some peaple don't want to overwork there trucks?

And why do the tow ratings go down as weight goes up? Don't you want more power as you tow? Or is this just another case of too much power (compression) under too much load (heat) make engine go BOOM!

And isn't lope Idle just it reving up and down, what is the point of that except making fun of little cammed out cheby 350s?

And the most important question, I want a high Idle but not sure wich. I need something low (so as not to wake the neiberhood) but also not too low I would like it to worm up on time (winter can get cold) and also I know if the Idle is too low it can "wash" the cylinders. I also have dual alts, so no need for "electrical boost"
I was kind of thinking 1200, does that sound good.

1200 sounds good. I have both 60E and 80E, I never use 60E. Yes the lower the power the higher the tow rating.

Call Clay @ Riffraff. He is great about answering questions.

I almost never use 80e, but I rarely drive my truck unloaded.

I can't tell the difference between 60Tow and 80Tow, either by feel or temps.

I also rarely use 120Race, temps move almost as fast as the truck in that tune, but I wouldn't be without it.

Haven't had/heard drive-thru, but I'm getting it w/ the next reprogram.

I do almost all my driving in stock (for noise and warmup) or 60/80tow. I like the feel of the tow tunes (even unloaded) better than econ or race.

If you get a high idle for warmup make sure to get one that closes the EBPV, helps alot for warmup. I have the factory RPM control box and fast idle default is about 1000rpm.

Yes it is a "play" tune. It is now called lope/smoke idle each and every truck reacts to it different. Jody explained to me how it works when I live tuned. I have it and with the stacks and the SS injectors it sounds good on mine.

And to answer your 60e or 80e. James was pushing me towards the 60e, he was saying their getting their best results with this tune. I was heading that direction, but I wanted to let me him know what "My" driving conditions were. Once he learned that I have a traffice light every half mile, he suggested that I stay with the 80e. So, explain your drivng conditions to Diane, Jody or James and have them suggest your best option.

I have the 60e and 80e, also. For highway driving, I get the best results with the 60e. For town driving and shorter trips, I get better results with the 80e. Like Pat said ^^^, it depends on driving style and conditions. Give them as much info as you can about how you use your truck and they won't steer you wrong.

I am very happy with just stock, 40T, 80E, and 120R.

Mine stays in 80E the majority of the time.

There are many places to get this stuff from, but one of our own is Riffraff. His prices have been the best so far. You could get your DP from him, but I am not sure it isnt better to talk to Jody or Diane.. Sorry Clay. But definately hook up with Riffraff for all of your other quotes when you go out shopping.

If you are going to tow you might want to consider the decel. Works great in the hills.

I do some towing, mostly a flatbed car hauler, other than that this truck is my daily/winter do anything driver. I could have gotten away with a gasser, but around here manual 4x4 and 6spd with all the options is a VERY rare find and for the price I could not pass it up.
I am getting the tuner for some fun but for the most part it serves a purpose, higher mpg (13.5 unloaded seams a little low) and power when I need it. And also to show my cheby buddies what a truck is supposed to be. (don't really need a tuner for that but it would be nice)
Is the decel mostly for auto trannys? I have the 6spd, so I just engine brake most the time, would the decel have an effect on my truck?
