while your in there you should strongly consider replacing the COP boots aswell.. they are cheap and its good insurance to avoid possible problems by removing the old plugs...
in my F250 i went with autolite platinum 103's (same as the motorcraft), but in my Excursion i varied off the path with Champion 3401 double platinum's mainly due to the price threw the place i work (about $1.80 ea compared to the others).
along with the plugs, add boots/springs to the list, it will be well worth the few added seconds it takes to change them!!
then add cleaning your Throttle body, clean your Mass Air Flow sensor (contact/electrical cleaner), and if your feeling REALLY frisky, take your IAC off and give it a quick shot of cleaner as well.
everything will add up to be a benefit in the long run! it made a good bit of difference on my Excursion!
Hey take some time and read through the posts of the past week with my name or do a search for my name. You will see how much trouble I had trying a plug other than oem. Use motorcraft and change the boots and springs 35.00 for a set of 8 I think napa sells them in singles. Trust me I've been through hell this past week chasing a misfire use motorcraft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was seduced primarily by the one piece/welded design of the champion 7989's for my 05 and they were garbage...replaced with motorcraft and am completely happy....Stick with OEM IMO....
so far i have about 1500miles on my champions and they are looking good. i'm not saying that they woun't crap out on me in another 1500 miles, but everything is running smooth, milage is up, and theres no signs of a miss.
Can anyone tell me a good online source for directions on servicing my v10 Excursion? I'd like to change plugs soon and would like to know specs for this job. I've read a few posts and it sounds like there is an online manual some of you may be referring to.
I always run single platinum MC OE replacements. Use autolites in some other Fords too. You should have the plugs in long enough to need double platinums.
