v10 engine misses

Took v10 to (limited) auto shop, they performed a diagnostic on it, determined that coils going bad on certain cylinders.

replaced all 10 coils and plugs with Motocraft parts........

Runs some better but still has miss....mostly under load.

Took back to shop, performed scan test again, determined #4 causing problems now. Switched out coil and checked plug for defect. No change.

Pulled vacum leak test and was good.

Mechanic now baffled, says might be injector or backed up cat causing this. Initial test indicated was ignition, would injector cause ignition code?
I didn't think a cat could cause this.

Any ideas?

Anyone have a good fuel injector cm4809 F6VE-A5A laying around that you might consider parting with for a bit so I can test this out? I will send back and reimburse postage.

What year is your truck? Might have the mechanic swap injectors and see if the problem follows? I have a set of injectors out of a 2006 2v V10 not sure if they are the same? My understanding is all 2v 10 injectors are the same. Maybe some of the other guys will chime in shortly. Welcome to FTE, glad you found us.

Thanks for the reply, it's a 1999 F350. I'll do some checking also. I do know that there are basically two types of injectors...ones with round to oval connection point and one with rectangular connection point, mine is the latter.

An injector can cause a single misfire code on one cylinder, that's for sure.

YoVinni,

Here's a picture of the injectors. The orange ones came out of my 2000 F350 and the green/blue came out of a 2006 E350. I put the orange injectors back into my truck and have the green/blue set collecting dust. This should be the same...? Let me know.

Thanks for all the work Mr-Pipeline but those aren't the same as mine, my connectors won't hook up to those. Mine have the rectangular connection point. I do appreciate it though. Hopefully someone has one like mine. Thanks, Vince

Do a compression check. Especially on that missing cylinder. Something's up with it.
