New to FTE and looking for advise before I sit down with the salesman and order a 2011 F-250 SD. Please tell me everything I should know.
I have gotten lots of good info in just a few days on this forum. Your input would be welcome.

Most car salesman are full of BS and really don,t know what they are selling.
Don't trade anything in.
Don't buy an extended warranty.
Don't finance at the dealership.
These three areas are where they will run the #s around in circles until you can't find your own a$$. Dicker on the price of the truck only, so you know where you stand.
Tell that to the 6.0L crowd.... that 7 year/200,000 mile engine warranty is looking better and better every day I get closer to 5 years without blowing something. No one really has any idea what issues the new engines will have, I'd opt for a warranty and maintenance package so just it's their problem when something blows up at 85,000.
If you are going to purchase an extended warranty plan, only get the Ford plan. Also remember that some dealerships will deal on the cost of the extended warranty.
Thank you all for the advise.
No trade-in and I am considering the extended warranty. Ford
or any bank the dealer has cannot beat our credit union's
rate of 3.15%.
The dealer I am using had some great deals on his
remaining 2010 trucks. He was giving close to $10,000.00
off of the F-250 short beds.
Thanks again,
Mike
Ditto pony up for 2011, but if you go 2010 get at least $12K off!!
I got $9K off my 2011.
Same here on no trade and CU, I actually did a home equity and got 2.5%, but it was already an open line don't know if I would open one just for a truck.
Build your truck at Ford.com that way you will KNOW every option and be informed. Sales people will treat you different when they know you know what your talking about.
Call a dealer in a big city that is somewhat close or easy to get to, say Airtran or Jet Blue or something for 79 or 99 bucks. They will deal with you as well and love getting the chance for out-of-town business. Do this before hard negotiations with the locals, at least you'll have options.
I say that cause I don't know how the dealerships are in your area. I live in Atlanta area and have 5 or 6 Ford dealers within 30 minutes of my house. I had three dealers working against each other, and I told them so.
I agree,
Order on-line, research and order what you want, work out all the numbers and print and keep all your info and you should have a dealer/dealers contact you. Look for additional incentives as well. They typically don't play the same games as the lot buyer crowd.
Also go to Edmunds of similar site & build the same truck as you build on Ford site - gives you the invoice - Will get you closer to where you should be paying..
Remember you may want the truck - but they want your money more - so you got that on your side...
If you read the availble 2010 and 2011 catalogs and tow guides you will be light years ahead of what the salesman and sales manager know. If it were me I'd rather have the 2010 and pocket the extra cash.
