1981 F250 trouble
I have a 1981 F250 Extended Cab 4X4 with A 351 Modified engine. The truck has been setting up for a long time and I'm having alot of trouble.
1. I was wondering of i can do away with the smog pump
(i think thats wat its called).
2. Is there any diagrams to tell me where all the vacuum lines
hook up.
3. Is there any way to tell what carb i have without the tag on it.
Any help would be GREATLY Appreciated!!!!!!!

1. You can take the drive belt off of it.
2. Does your truck not have a vacuum hose diagram on the core support? My 82 has it there.
3. It should be a standard 2150, Motorcraft 2 bbl.

1981 F250 trouble
I took the smog pump off. The fitting on the end of the big hose comming out of it was rusted out. I also plugged the two vacuum lines coming out of it. Was this the right thing to do?
There is no vacumum diagrams anywhere on the truck. Someone must have removed it. I found some diagrams at the chilton auto site but can't figure out which one is mine..
Last but not least..lol Do you have any idea what kit I need to buy to rebuild my carb. The people at the parts store (Autozone) Said they can't help me without the tag on the carb.
Any help appreciated.....Rod

It should be alright, where you removed the air pump. Just make sure you have no vacuum leaks.
Regarding the carburetor, I have run into the same thing on these Motorcraft carbs, where someone else has left the tag off. They should be able to figure it out by the year of the application, if you can get them to give any effort.
I have the number that was on the carb tag that was on my 82 400, I would think its the same carburetor.
