it doesnt seem this bushing can possibly be removed. i tried prying on it a little. i'm not sure where to get a replacement or why in the world this doesnt have 1.
I would think the center would have to come out then the rubber bushing comes out. I attempted it when I rebuilt the column on my truck but ended up keeping the stock ones, they were in good condition still. Good luck. L.M.C. truck sells replacements.
i spent a dollar and got some washers that have the sime size hole and thought of just welding them on. but theres a rubber gasket sandwiched in the bushing which i'd imagine reduces any possible vibration to the column. i wish i had a lathe because i would just turn down a piece of delrin plastic rod i have, and jam it in there, then heat the sides and press them together, then drill a hole. maybe a rubber sleeve of some sort maybe shrink tubing or just rubber tubing, and maybe that can accomplish a bouncy bouncy for the "trunion"

You say steering column, but the only lever I've ever seen that has this nonreplaceable bushing...is the A/T's manual control selector lever on the transmission.
When the bushing wore out, the lever had to be replaced, because there was no way to remove that fracatta bushing.
At the bottom of the steering column under the hood is the manual control selector lever for the A/T shift rod. This lever uses the same bushing and insulator as the 3 speed manuals two selector levers.
If this is what the lever is...what the hell that non replaceable bushing is doing there, I haven't a clue. It's not something Ford did.
Before I pass along the part number, sources that have it (Ford just obsoleted it), is the column the original, or from a later truck?
The whole tamale is illustrated here: 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog / Illustration Section 35, Page 8.
wow thanks for the help bill. my bendix 69 setup is being s***canned in lieu of a fresh "saginaw" ford setup. i got a new box and column from a 71. both have c6 automatic trans. the "trunion" and post attached to a threaded rod goes through this bushing in the hole. then gets a circlip to hold it on.
in the picture, bendix on the left, saginaw on the right. note the funky angles of the shift arms.
so the post goes through this hole but this doohickey thats in the hole makes it fit, without the doohickey it will be a floppy flipper....skipper!
