transfer case help

hey fellas. im sure you all know my story; im swapping my 4 speed manual to a 5 speed. i have an 89 f 150 with a 300 engine. i know i need new driveshafts. but my question is about the transfer case. right now, i have the borg warner manual shift 1345. i really think i need the manual shift 1356. me and my dad have been talking about this and the question is: did ford use the 1345 and the 1356 transfer cases with the 5 speed manual tranny? i dont want to have to go buy another transfer case and more new driveshafts if i can avoid it. i wasnt to know if i can use the existing transfer case with the driveshafts i purchased. i purchased the shafts from a guy who said that they were on a truck with the 1345 and the 5 speed manual. if you can help me put, please let me know. as always, your help is appriciated. thanks again, john

transfer case help

You don't have to change the t-case, but make sure the transmission extension has the bosses to mount the t-case shifter. Getting shafts from a truck with the same setup is a good move.

Steve is right, i'm pretty sure ford used the same bolt pattern on their Tcases, the only thing i could see is, i would imagine the 5 speed is longer than your 4 speed so you might have to cut the floor pan or try to rework the shift lever for the Tcase to get it to work right, i'm not really sure tho. It's all just little details
