Hey guys for those of us with the power seats not moving (back in my case) I decided to take the switch apart and see what the problem was. It turned out to be the plastic clip under the main center switch. There are 2 clip under there that control movement. the white clip controls front and back - the black clip controls up and down.
For my truck back was not working so when I had the clip out one point or nub was melted down and not making contact. I didnt want to oreder one so I figured some good ole jerry rigging was in order.
1. mix up some jb weld (God's greatest creation)
2. apply a ton on the tip
3. either let it setup a bit and mold it or set it upside down and let the drip form itself (this method is prob easier)
4. let it dry and cure overnight and you you have a free fix
sorry for the blurry pics, hopefully you'll get the gist of what I was trying to point out.
well so much for that fix.....actually the jb weld held up great, unfortuneately the plastic just broke right above the fix! I just sent Ed an email to get a replacement since I cant stand being so damn close to the dash. If anyone wants to do this fix just make sure once the jb weld dries you go back with some more and coat the whole "shaft" to add strength.
