ford stopped making the f-100 for a year or two. i know they made 77 and 80 f-100s so maybe it was just for 78 and 79 they didn't make them. or maybe just one year. im not totally sure.
Well I have a 78 F100 4x2 in my driveway so i am sure they made them in 78 but I am starting to think they never did make a 79 F100 4x4. Thanks for all the help
The difference between the F-100 & the F-150 is mainly suspension.
A person might want to use the search feature as there numerous threads about the differences in this & the 67-72 forums.
Ford did make a '71 F1004x4. I have one. I am the second owner. My uncle bought it new in 2/71, special ordered. I beleive the final delivered cost was $3600. My '71 is in excellent condition, was always garaged, and never driven in bad weather. Ford made the F1004x4 up until '77 I believe, and in '76 Ford offered the F1504x4, as a heavy-duty half ton. Supposedly, the F150 had bigger rear springs, rear axle, (31 spline?) and maybe something else. Ford kept the F100 alive only in two-wheel drive form after '77. My '71F1004x4 specs:
FE360V8
NP435
Dana 21 single speed tranfer case
Dana 44 front
Ford 9 in. rear
Ranger package (one step below a Ranger XLT)
power steering conversion
6" Skyjacker suspension
Heddmen headers
custom 3" exhaust
stock rims, hubcaps
36" Denman Coyotes
Oh yeah I remembered the '76 F1504x4 came with an NP 205 case. Hope this helps
