window regulator, what fits?

window regulator, what fits?
Hi there, hoping this is a simple question.
Need some help before heading to my local pick-a-part.
The driver's side window regulator stripped out on my 79 F-100
over the weekend. Handle spins freely, window doesn't move.
So my question is: What years/models of trucks and vans can I
get a new regulator from?
My local yard has no 79's but there are several older trucks and
quite a few vans from the mid 70's. No Bronco's to choose from.
Also, it appears I need to take out the vent window to get at
the regulator. Is this true? Or will it slide out as is.
