i have a 1986 f150 302 efi with 125,000 miles. my oil pressure is 40 psi while at idle and engine is warm. it also has oil pressure of 50 psi while running at speed and warm engine. is this a good oil pressure? thanks

I have that same set up & I am absolutely amazed at the oil pressure of my engine! Just make sure to stay up on the maintenance.

Yup, it's fine ... However there are multiple sides of the story!

High oil pressure causes undue wear on the oil pump related components ... Cam shaft gear, distributer gear, drive shaft and oil pump.

The standard is 10 lbs for every 1000 RPMs.

Oil weight has some to do with it ... 20w50 will give you higher oil pressure then 10w40.

10psi/1000rpm is a minimum standard. Any lower than that is considered low oil pressure.

The optimal standard is 10psi per 1000 RPM and is not the minimum standard!

Minimum is like 4 or 5 psi per 1000 RPM.

It has been proven many times over pressure is not as important as volume!
