First off smartass. My first post was a general question because I wasn't sure if all the 5.4 engines used cops. Second , since you're obviously a newby you will see that these ford engines are finicky and do like motorcraft parts. Just ask the majority of people who post. I'll make sure I
don't offer any help in the future.

theres a difference between "like" and "last". they "like" other brands, but "last" the longest with motorcraft i guess. EG: i went from motorcraft plugs to NGK vPower plugs and i noticed a 4mph increase around town and a little bit better performance. i also use a KNN oil filter because its a thicker shell, and the remote oil filter is in the wheel well.
Look, I'm sure people have different experiences with different products. I
try to go by what the people in here that post alot reccomend. I figure they have alot more experience than me so I listen. The majority say
to use motorcraft when it comes to the motors.
Thanks for the info on the COPs Redwood, I'm not big on K&N air filters though. I've seen way to many cars with K&Ns that are plugged. It's not that K&N is a bad product, it's that a lot of guys tend to neglect them after install and don't clean and lube regularly. I do have one in my 07 Mustang GT, It came with the shaker/ram-air kit I installed.

Starting an arguement with me isn't how you help the OP, first you didn't know the 5.4 only came with COPs, then you knew for sure they did, now you're not sure again. Make up you're mind.
Look, I'm not gonna get into a pissing contest with you. You're the one with the attitude. Next time I would suggest you say you have a 4.6l engine and not a 5.4 . One would think a master mechanic for 30 yrs would know it makes a difference when asking for help.
No problem on the hijacking part....it was good reading.
Anyway~Got home last night did some triple checking on #1 Cylinder. I bought a new coil, tried it. No fix. Pulled the plug back out was going to put one of the old plugs back in to see if maybe I had a bad plug. Then I look at the gap of the new one. Man did I feel and also look like a dumbazz!. The gap was closed like the box had been dropped. Cause I know I didn't drop the plug. You get new parts and just assume that everything is OK. Not this time. Corrected the gap and low and behold......FIXED.
I used the anti seize on the threads and the dielectric grease on the boots.
It always seems to be the simple things-glad you got it figured out.

its a said-so paradox. one person said its the best, then someone else heard him and started saying they were the best, then more people started saying they are the best, and so on. almost all people who say its the best, never tried anything else. they are just going by what another person said. and that other person is going by what another person said etc etc etc.
A Ford dealer mechanic will always swear by Ford OEM parts, and a GM dealer mechanic will do the same. I guess their minds have been programed to think their parts are the best, and only way to go. So why do the OEM parts go bad in the first place?

If I can get a word in here, never put plugs in out of the box without gap checking them.
They are not always pregapped for your application, especially if used in other applications,
as well as 'accident' along the way.
Good luck.
I believe oem parts for the most are of better quality. Their spec tolerance is usually higher due to being vehicle specific. Aftermarket tries to make parts fit common vehicles in general. Example, when I had my 92 LSC Lincoln I purchased an aftermarket radiator which also fit a Mustang by their part number. I had some trouble with the rad cap and shroud mounts being designed slightly different. Just took a little more time making things fit.
Sometimes however the oem part prices are right out to lunch. I can't afford them so aftermarket has to do. Hence the aftermarket radiator. The oem does seem to be competing with the aftermarket pricing now a little better than they use to on fast moving parts only, I've found.
