First Regen

My truck regen'ed for the first time this morning. At least the fist time I've experienced it (just crossed 1000 miles on the ticker). I am not sure it finished by the time I got to work though. When I started out the day I noticed a sucking noise when I accelerated. I accelerate real easy so I didn't notice any power loss. If I pushed the petal a tad harder than I normally do then the sucking noise would get louder - like a vaccum cleaner but not quite as potent. The lie-o-meter fuel gauge went down to 16.2 also and stayed there all day (about 60 miles driven today). I will see if it goes back up in the morning... unless it regens again to catch up on not finishing today?

I am still surprised by the fuel economy though. I never expected to get this much so soon. The engine isn't even broke in yet!

does sound like it was cleaning. you can confirm by going thru the menu's.

If it did not get enough done then it will finish when the motor and exhaust get up to temps.

How exactly do you confirm if a regen is in progress if you missed the intial message stating "Cleaning Exhaust Filter"?

Press the info button and them reset to do a system check. At the end of the check it will show the, "Cleaning Exhaust Filter" message.

I just went through my glove box and there is a piece in there on the 6.4L engine. It is saying that there is a "cleaning" message, or a few variations thereof, on the message center. However, I have not seen one come across. Maybe I just wasn't looking at it when the message flashed? I figured it would stay on for a while if there was one.

That having been said, I think I remember there being a firmware update somewhere along the line that stopped the messages so people wouldn't pay attention to them. Maybe I am just imagining things though... thoughts?

I am reviewing the CD right now on maintenance.

Exactly right. Orginally the message was very brief, followed by the one that stayed on. Now they are back to the brief flash accross the screen, if that.

16.2 mpg with no-mods? I have never seen mine read over 15 mpg, with the DPF/CAT delete... Have you hand calculated it? I am so jealous if that's what mileage you are getting!!!

Umm.. let me check. I am not sure how accurate this will be because I am going off of what my papers say is the mileage at the time of sale as my starting miles, not what I saw on the meter. I am guessing it is close though...

Well I got 14.8 calculating it. I also reset my trip A right after I drove off the lot and I am showing about 20 miles difference between what my papers say and if I subtract the mileage I have on my trip A from the total mileage.

I just topped off the tank today and I marked down my mileage to the tenth so let me run a tank completely in my own environment and I'll let you know when I fill up the next time. I will make another thread though, we're way off the regen topic now

I also reset the average mileage when I filled up today - so far it is a hair under 16. That just includes my trip home from work and getting stuck in rush hour traffic (not my normal route, I had to go in to town today). My usual route is light traffic country roads until I get pretty close to home then its busy residential.
