wrench icon

Was towing my 7000# travel trailer this weekend and noticed that the wrench icon was on. Truck is a 2005 PSD. It was running OK didn't seem to have a any issues. After dropping the trailer the icon went off. Anyone know what could case this to go on?

Thanks for any info

Best thing to do is get a code scanner and read any cel codes that it may have set. One possible reason why the wrench light came on could be if your Oil temp and water temp differed more than they should.

Yep, get the code read. It could be temp diff, but only if you have the newest flash which is about a year or less old. I would say the single most common reason for a CEL, when the truck still seems to run good, is an EGR valve. But it could be just about anything else.

Many scanners won't read the Ford enhanced codes. There almost has to be one.

If you hook up a scanner that doesn't work, they USUALLY will give you an ERR code, not a clean scan for no codes. ERR meaning error, this scanner won't work on your vehicle.
I just got that the other day when I grabbed the old scan tool instead of the new one...really made me wonder for a bit!

You have a soft code, will take a trip to Ford or something like a Edge Insight to read it. My bet is that it's a P012F (Oil Cooler Efficiency).

Get it looked at soon ....
