It kills it if it's in regen....it will restart if it needs to, 15 minutes later. I WISH there was some counter that would pop up and say "REGEN STARTS IN XXX MINUTES". that would be FANTASTIC!!
This past weekend I had to move furniture back and forth from my house to my grandmothers who lives 7 mins away. 2 min into the drive, regen starts . Pull into her driveway, shut it off, unload and load, head back to my house and regen starts again . I didn't have the time or luxury to go for a drive to complete the process so I pull in shut off and unload. Monday morning I head out for my normal commute, 10 min in and regen starts. I never thought I'd say this, but thank goodness I have a 25 mile commute mostly hwy . Regen finished after about 20 min. I need to check my oil to see if she made oil those two times the regen was stopped.

Would not think it made oil. I have done that on several occasions. Much better that endless driving or sitting there trying to get it done.
As a new owner of a use f250 6.4 with 64,000 mi. mfg. date of 5/07 I also notice this some what frequent regen mode, and or the short period high rev from take off mode. Is the question high heat at the back of the block and the heat through the turbo, or the burning or waste of fuel to clean the soot before it reaches the air we see. As for making oil would that not be a blow by situation in the back cylinders leading to the rings to fail. I am sure that these trucks were bought to haul and at over 3 years old there has to be some of these trucks out there with at least 200k on them, I see these trucks on the road everywhere, running. If I had a choice I would rather not see the message and just run down the road. I think Ford wanted us to witness being green.

I don't make oil.
Just checked it and it didn't. I've read soo many threads about that it's made me a little paranoid. 4200mi since my last oil change and the oil level sits dead center w/ the short stick method. It hasn't budged, and neither has my coolant level. I plan on keeping this truck for the long haul. Heck I still get a BSEG on my face every time I drive it. I get jealous reading about you guys towing your 5vers all over the place .

Don't be too jealous, at $3 plus per gallon plus Diesel Kleen and 8 or so MPG, it aint all that great. Not complaining just keeping it real. I only mention it because there is no REAL reason for this. I am in Salt lake city and it is dry and so dusty that the air is hazy with blown dirt. My soot used to just fall to the ground harmlessly.
