hey i have an 89 f150 with a 4 speed transmission on the bottom of the shifter there are pins to hold the shifter but mine broke off and i cant find a diagram of them anywhere and it seems like no one has the pins. ive been looking around at the trans shops but none of them have to have the them. they are an odd shapethey have like a ball on the end that goes into the shifter and i dont know how long they are because they wee sheared off. or if no one knows anything about that how about the gear plate its self? can some one help me please?
I vaguely remember reading something about this on Pirate4x4, IIRC the shifter developed slop and the repair somehow involved them pins - search through their tech articles, may be able to find something that helps ya out...
Best advice is to go to the junker and pry one out (flat head punch and a hammer) and press it into yours the same way.
if you are close to Cheyenne, WY I'll be able to help.
I may be able to get you the pin at some point this week if need be......just not easy to do on my schedule.
if you could pull two of them out is there anyway you can ship them to me im willing to ay for shipping and price of part please.
I will try and get them in the next few days. and shipping them......I'll need to ask around for the cheapest route, each pin weighs less than a nickle, so there should be no reason to pay $5 to ship them.
Don't worry about the part, I may have a few pins in the garage still.
I was shaving them left and right for a while there......so I pretty well stocked up, just gotta find em.
The junk yards only had one set......and the previous genius (owner) welded the SOBs in........I found this out AFTER I was hammering on them for 25 minutes.
