I agree with bashby on the exhaust, I did have one completely plugged muffler that was causing my truck to run like a POS, spitting, sputtering, and backfiring, the first couple of weeks on the road until one day it built up so much pressure it exploded and from there it ran great, no more hesitation or sputtering or anything, other than it was louder than anything with no muffler on one side and a functioning muffler on the other side. Both of the mufflers looked to be in good condition from the outside, but were not in good condition on the inside. You could try running it without a muffler for a day to see how it goes. I had 2 new Flowmaster super 40 series mufflers and 3" custom bent tailpipes installed. My truck sounded and ran 10X better with the new exhaust.
ok, I may be on to something. Is the carb for a modified different than for the other 351. I think the rebuilt carb I bought may have too small of jets. I wonder in this is why I am starved for fuel.
