This is from an email that Eric sent me in April.

Xtreme Race- 420-440rwhp/760-780rwtq - Converter locked in all gears.
Xtreme Street- 420-430rwhp/730-760rwtq- Not recommended for towing.
Street- 400rwhp/670rwtq- Tow up to 10k lbs.
Tow- 310rwhp/560rwtq- Towing over 10k lbs up to the maximum of the truck. Options include turbo braking(jake brake), firmer shifting, and other changes based on the modifications to the truck.
Economy- Mileage program only.

Thanx Tom for the info.
Since the wife and I are planning a 2 week trip in the next few weeks, I'll load both the street and the economy tunes and see which performs better for towing +/- 8k lbs.
BTW, the option for turning off the EGR IS NOT available with any of the custom tunes but others are. I'm assuming this is because this is a CA emissions truck. Also can I assume that the HP on the economy tune remains the same as stock ?

You may also look into the TSX. It has a monitor and will read ECT and EOT along with tune your truck

You really need to be able to monitor your vitals.
Guys, I'm still new to this tune thing so forgive my ignorance. You can use the CTS for strictly its monitoring and use the SCT for tunes? How does that work?

That's how I understand it. Economy tune is no power increase. I only use the economy for towing heavy.

By the way, I should have stated those numbers I posted earlier are tunes written by Eric, if you use tunes by another company or canned tunes, the numbers would be different.

I can state that when I was first looking at tuners(and canned ones at that, was I ever that young and naive) Edge and BullyDog did have their economy tunes "lumped" in with their tow tunes and that's where that 40 over stock came in.

I think Matt's(Spartan now) economy tunes also had increased HP as well. The exact number I can't remember as I never got the straight economy tune either when he was doing SCT tuning or his own tuning with the Spartan Phalanx.

Also their is anecdotal evidence to suggest that the higher HP tunes have yield, in some instances, better economy then the straight tunes written specifically for economy. It all depends on how well the driver can stay out of all that power and how "smart" of an economy driver they are. Matt actually had a tune written called the hybrid race that helped along those lines as well. 1/2 throttle and less it would act like an economy tune, past 1/2 throttle it would act like a race tune(hence the term "hybrid").

Talking

agree Tex...
most race tunes increase efficiency as well as hp so SOME benefit in mpg may be achieved...
mpg, without any updates/changes/tuners WILL change from day to day anyway...
heck air temps affect it even, so mpg claims are suspect...

all of us have been around the block enough to not buy into the marketing enough to think you will quickly save the amount of fuel to pay for the tuner...
(you can tell your significant other that's the reason for getting it, but don't try to sell that here )

and not really sure I can justify buying a $400 tuner for no power increase and limited mpg increase....

buy it for the personality change of your truck and enjoy it (immensely) for that alone

I too am seriously investigating the edge insight cts....
but wonder about having IT and a GPS on the dash for the thieves to steal ?

That is correct. The CTS Insight or CS Insight is nothing but a monitor that plugs into the OBDII port. You will still need the EGT probe on the older trucks because that does not run through the computer. The CTS and CS that act as power adders are called the Evolution. Check out their website and it will make more sense to you. The monitors might seem expensive but if you add up the cost of individual gauges (a nice set) and the pod you will pay much more than the digital monitors. Not to mention how many more vitals you can monitor with the edge.

Thank you for the clarification. That helped a lot and sorry for the hijack.
