wire harness help

I have a 1999 f150 4x4 that I tow my boat which has a 4 wire straight line harness. I bought another trailer which has brakes and thus a 7 wire round harness. How can I convert my 4 wire to a 7 wire???

They sell plug-in adaptors at the autopart stores if you don't care about the trailer brakes working. If you do care, you'll need to add a brake control to your truck.

not sure about the 1999, but by 2001 the harness going down the frame to the left rear tire had the brake and power wires installed. There is a harness plug on the left frame left of the gas tank. 7 wires in, 4 wires out kind of thing. Yuu can modify it there, or buy a new rear harness to the tail lights and hitch area. Also look under the dash in front of the drivers seat. Might be a plug setup already for the brake controller. Sometimes you can buy the parts on e-bay. You may be missing a relay to make the brakes work.
