Does anyone have any experience with the security system. Specifically, I'm trying to understand what exactly will trigger a security system shutdown and what the owner can do to remove the shutdown?
It would seem unreasonable to need to have road side assistance or trailer it to a dealership to release the shutdown.
Using an un-programmed key is the only way it'll trigger, aside from a breakdown in the system somewhere. It's main functionality is internal to the ECU, only thing you could do is see if you can get a custom tune to disable it.
The original key was used. Drove for 20 minutes, shut it down, 40 minutes later tried to start with the same key and it would not. Roadside assistance cleared the security event, and then it was fine.
Had one of those OBDII scanners/mileage computers plugged in and the belief is that this is what caused the security event. But there is no hard evidence. I have never read anyone else having a similar problem.
