Smile Bought My First Truck

hello everyone,
I just bought my first truck yesterday. 2008 F-350 Harley Davidson. It has about 128000 km on it (79500mi) and its my first diesel. I filled it up yesterday and used Howes Lubricator for the first tank. I live in BC Canada and I can only get B5 Diesel. Has anyone had experience with Howes Lube products? I plan on using "Howes Diesel conditioner & anti gel" from now on. Would anyone recommend and additives instead of Howes? Also Oil change is coming up... I am set on going synthetic just dont know which brand yet.. should i change the fuel filters also? I will for sure drain the water separator. Any Tips n Tricks would be appreciated.

Don't know anything about the additives you are using. As far as oil is concerned I would ensure it is CJ-4 rated diesel oil.

Stay away from AMSOIL.

I would change the fuel filters if you don't know the history.,...might do it anyway.

Change them at 10K miles, don't know the KM conversion.

Do the oil at 5K miles. Use only the motor craft filters.

BTW..pics would be nice!

sorry to ask but whats black filter eliminator? i will look into diesel clean thanks for the tip.
i was just under my truck and noticed oil all around the oil drain plug. it isnt leaking at the plug but its all around the pan where it is bolted up. I will get some pics up later because im probably wording this wrong. but there was oil around the pan and the bolts. is this a serious problem? i checked the oil level and its fine, it could of been from the previous owner when he got all the lines flushed and everything?

I have heard of it and used to use it. It seemed good. Navistar recommends it for their engines ( at least they did last I knew ). Only reason I changed additives was price. Diesel Kleen gave me pretty much equal results at a better price.

Nice looking truck! looks like the previous owner installed a 2010 front airdam to help with the MPG's. The 08's came with a short airdam.

Welcome to FTE!
