Nothing but Mercon SP or the newer LV in your tranny. Either at the dealer or I got mine also at DFO.com

You can ONLY put Mercon SP or LV in your trans.

Sorrey one more question how much fluid have you been putting back in with the drain plug pulled and a new filter?? my chilton book is unclear it states to add 6.5 qts run it through all the gears and add fluid accordingly. The book covers 6.0L as well as the 7.3L and doesnt mention anything different between the model years.

The correct way to change your trans is a hot flush by your dealer There is a thermostat in the trans and all the fluid cannot be drained. The way I did mine I drained the pan about 7-8 quarts will come out. I did that once and than 2 more times at 3 month intervals. Now every 6 months or so I drain it an add 7-8 qts. or whatever comes out. I also change the filter 1 a year regardless of mileage.

The Mercon I purchase from Truck Parts for Semi,Trailer,Heavy Duty Trucks @ RyderFleetProducts

The Filters From Home - Diesel Filters,Additives, brake rotors, and brake pads for Chevy, Dodge and Ford Diesel Trucks

If it was just flushed you could probably just drain refill and change filter and save a few bucks, IMHO. Unless you tow alot.
