2010 F250 PSD
I took a trip to southern Ohio today to meet up with my search and rescue team - field training for some later certification testing. It was a mix of highway driving, state routes, and once I got down close to the park the roads were really windy and a lot of up and down (by Ohio standards, and not real long climbs but hills in rapid succession).
My fuel mileage came out to 16.5 on the lie-o-meter. Thats not too bad at all. I am really surprised it is holding up like that. My expectation, based on some investigating here on FTE, I would be around 13-14 until the engine breaks in. Maybe I just have a lighter foot than all of you?

My highway mileage is a hair over 17 right now. Again, on a non-broken in engine.
This has been said neumerous times here on FTE - keep the RPM's below 2000. In my case I go real light on my accelerating to add to it and I can still mantain 16mpg in town. When accelerating hard the harder you push the more it drinks. It is impossible to avoid cranking some RPM's when climbing hills and the meter shows - the longer the hill the more the mileage drops.
Don't get the wrong idea here - I just want to post a few things I am not crazy about with the truck. As with anything new it will take some time to get used to as it is different than what I am used to:
No adjustable petals. My 2005 350 CC work truck had this - a switch on the dash made the petals go in or come out. Pretty nifty.
No arm rest. My Silverado had a nice arm rest on the front bucket seats that dropped out of the side of the seat. The only thing I have to rest my arm on in the super duty is the center console - a bit far and a bit low but I'll get used to it.
No outside thermometer. At least I havent found one. My truck has the nav system so maybe there is something burried in there I haven't found? The information center on the gauge cluster just has direction in addition to the trip computer.
TPS. Of course the tires are showing 50-52psi (sticker says 65psi). I am sure thats what's doing it. In any event, that light and warning screen coming across the display is a bit annoying. My compressor blew a fuse when I tried to pump them up. I guess an extra 30psi over my 1/2 ton needs a bit more juice

Heres a REALLY annoying one - CHROME vent and gauge bezels!!! If you never drive west in the morning or east in the evening (part of my daily commute) you're fine. Otherwise, be prepared to be blinded by the light. They make fantastic reflectors of our big glowing ball in the daytime sky.
The center console doesn't have a container/pocket on the top - stuff slides/rolls off. The one on the dash is HUGE but is out of reach.
The Limited Slip axle isn't up to what I expected. I almost had to put it in 4x4 today where I would have barely slipped a tire in my chevy. The super duty just spun one tire for a bit. Not a real biggie, it still has 4x4 if I need it.
Other than that, the truck rides like a dream. It is very stable. It is very comfortable. The leather is a bit stiff still but the padding is great. I love the lumbar support. My 2005 350 had this and it really went a long way for my back on long hauls. I wish my chevy had that in all the years I had it.
I tested the engine break a bit today. It seems to work pretty well. I am curious if I put a load behind it if it will act differently. The 6.0 I drove worked pretty well. Then again, it had lower gears (4.30's I'm guessing, no more than 3.73's).
More to come as I discover it! Again, the biggest surprise for me is the fuel mileage.
I tore in to the dash a bit looking for a way to run some cables for my Ham radios. The one boot through the firewall that I can see is out of reach for me (unless I remove some things under the hood to get to it). In the process I didn't see any switch for the petals.
I have the 4x4 ****, a power outlet, and a little cubby hole that are on the right side of the steering wheel. If I remember right the switch on my 05 was down a bit low next to the steering column - a few inches below the 4x4 **** (though that 05 wasn't 4x4). OHH - it did have a panel with the back up sensor button on it too, kinda square-ish. I think the switch was on that.
