4.9 Exhaust question

I have a 89 f150 4x4 4.9 i6 with a standard trans. I put a Flow master 40 or 70, not real sure, single in and out and it has a tip on it. I know there isn't much you can do to make it sound deep and loud. What is the best thing to put on there? Will single in duel out help? Will high flow cats make much of a difference? Will it make much of difference in performance if I do any of that?

Put a nice quiet muffler on it...then install a loudspeaker that can play a tape-recorded loop sound clip of a 500hp V8.

I have a single 2 1/2 inch split to duals straight pipe with a highflow magnaflow cat on mine sounds pretty good. No V-8 but not bad for a six.

How many cats are on it, Hunt?

If there are two, you may be able to ditch one and still pass any inspection you may be subject to.

Check the part number on the muffler. There's a pretty good differece on sound between certain series.... And I wouldn't spend money on dual tailpipe unless you want the look.
