My First Diesel is Home!
I just bought a 1994 F250 7.3 IDI Turbo Diesel. Things I know that need immediate attention is the gear selection for the tranny is not working guess it was not put back correctly after the transmission rebuild. I also need to add a leveling kit for the front so I can put the bumper back on. Truck has 190K on it. I plan to tackle one thing at a time. Any tips would be greatly appreciated...I want to do a tune up next...Replace whatever needs attention. Pictures Below............................................. ..

That's a shiny truck... too bad you lost your bumper somewhere, you should drive back and see if you can find where it fell off and collect it
That gear indicator is cable-driven, like the guys already said, and it sometimes gets goofy - mine has a mind of its own sometimes, it works from R to 1 but it don't always return to P with the shifter - I think the cable is getting sticky or something, but I have no desire to fight it any time soon.

cavitation.info you NEED to know about coolant/cap/thermostats/sca's when owning and maintaining a diesel engine:
Cavitation Article
a good rule of thumb for proper diesel tune up maintenance:
fuel filter:
drain the water every oil change.
replace every 60k miles.
air filter:
check it every oil change.clean/replace as needed.
CDR:
clean it every other oil change.
ip and injectors:
use an additive for extra lubricity every tank (at least every other)
change the ip and injectors every 100k miles.
timing:
have the timing checked every 20k miles & right after every ip/injector installation.
coolant:
check every oil change for level.
flush every 30k miles on a working rig.
replace the 13 lb cap every other flush.
test SCA levels every 10k miles.
replace the hoses every 5 years.it's cheap insurance.
batteries,cables,terminals,all contact points,and glow plugs:
inspect every fall before cold weather.
that should help ya get going.

Heck, he's on top of everybody's game it seems (well, mods excluded )- but I'm sure the fact that some of us are just too darn lazy to even notice there is a game to stay on top of may have something to do with it all... lol
