My truck has a bad case of Minnesota cancer. Over half the box side is missing due to rust. I found a few flatbeds that I like for a cheap and easy fix till I get a box. Any of you guys got flatbeds on your dents? Could you post a few pics? Here's the one I found that I like....
I've got pics of mine in my garage... Not sure how to post it other than uploading to an outside site, and don't want to do that ATM.
It's not completely done, but it gives you an idea... And this was fab'd by a friend of mine. Cost me $500 including labor for the frame, and IIRC about another $140 for the lumber.
79 with a flat bed from a ? its wide and heavy duty and a touch long, pulled off and sold. 79 bought as a parts truck with a nice flat that will be moving over to a different truck.
And a few more from my photo idea collection, you can build what ever you can imagine.
And what ever suits your needs, BTW I like that tube pre-runner front bumper on that green rig.
Out of curiosity, why do you say its been stretched? I have a 76 cab and chassis with a box and hoist on it, looks to be about the same wheelbase. I only ask because I also have a 78 cab and chassis f350 I havent played with yet and I am curious.
I can see the points where they at one time welded in a new section of frame. that truck is about 19 feet long at the back fo the bed.
if you look at the picture of the truck. in front of the front leaf spring mount there is a cut and welded spot. you can just see the 2 welds on the frame Im not sure if they stretched it or if they just replaced the section with a non bent piece so they could put the bed on. http://i969.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/DSCF0684.jpg

And like on the blue rig, more idea's.
I really like that blue truck. First saw it on pirate4x4. To bad he cut the frame to make the flatbed nice and low.

Definitely different. Almost has a old hot rod look to it.
dhobey, your tires don't rub on that? mine has cutouts for the tires but the po stuck 33's on there and they rub in the sides of the box anytime I'm flexing, or now, for instance, with 700 lbs of motor on the bed.
