This has got me really confused... truck was puking a few weeks ago but stopped after replacing cap(updated)...Went about 600miles in the last 2 weeks and today it pukes again... Not much but I can see a little splatter around cap..
Coolant is still clear and golden..There is no smoking and does not run hot... performance is fine and no codes..and I swear there doesn't seem to be a loss of fluid..
Question why is it that as soon as I start the truck the coolant goes down about an inch and a half and doesn't seem to move from there... but as soon as I shut it off(HOT OR COLD) it goes up.. Either all the way to min line or sometimes 1/4 to 1/2 below min...??????
Also can someone tell me if theirs does the same?? I always thought the level in the degas bottle should rise when hot and go down when cooled...
Also can someone tell me or show me with a pic where the min coolant level should be cold... Thank you
The MAXIMUM coolant level should be no higher than the minimum level marked on your bottle--actually 1/2" lower would even be better. You can get quite a variance in the bottle level simply by having your truck parked up or down hill, so make sure you're in a level spot when you fill it.
Coolant level is all over the place... this morning just below min...took it for a spin around 12 miles check fluid at rest stop and bottle looks almost empty...... come back park same spot and am now 1" below min line... so added so I was 1/4 inch below min took for ride mow 1/4 inch over min... Realy don't get it... why does it fluctuate so much...
Should it be at min when hot, when cold or when running....
