Quick off topicish question since the OP has seemed to fix his problem. I haven't messed with the powerstrokes much yet and I am curious. Is it hard to get to and change the CPS? I see all kinds of guys talking about their PSD's dieing randomly because of the CPS. I am thinking of getting an extra just to keep in the tool box in case this happens to me on a trip. If it isn't to involved to change I would really like to have the extra to at leats try if my 7.3 dies on me instead of paying to get another truck out with a trailer and stranding my family on the highway.

I keep one in the glove box myself. Its simple to change the CPS. Just keep a 10mm socket and rachet on hand. If you crawl under the truck, look up on the front of the block to the passenger side you will see the CPS with two wires plugged to it. It has one bolt that holds it in. Quick change if ya dont mind it being a little hot under there, unless you want to wait til it cools. I know there is some links to some how tos but I gotta head out of here right quick. I'm pretty sure there is a how to on Guzzle's website.

Having a spare or two is a great idea I have an IH one and a who knows one in my glove box. The IH is for me the who knows is incase someone else needs one. I already got burnt playing good smaritian with a good one,
Got the same thing going on I think.... replaced the CPS with the good black one ran fine for one day then started its stuff again but mine wont die completly coughs 2 to 4 times then keeps running so lastnight backed out the tow tune went back to stock now it dies completly but always re-starts checked CPS sensor plug its tight...Where is the ICP sensor located? will try the un plug thing to & see what it does....
Don't overlook a short in the plug and wiring harness for the CPS. That's showing up more now and people keep putting a new CPS in. They're pretty cheap at ford, the harness pigtail I mean, around $16.
