Simple Question

I have a 94 ext cab with 4.9 auto.

OK, If when I park my truck when I get home, open my hood and am able to freely spin my radiator fan, is my fan clutch bad?

I’m Suspecting it’s bad because at stop lights in hot weather the engine temp starts to go up.

Thanks,

no. its normal.
you probably have a bad thermostat
or maybe it needs more coolant.
cooling system can also be clogged.

Thats the sign of a bad fan clutch . When the motors warm there should be some drag on the fan clutch , do the test , if it spins with no drag then replace the clutch , ....Lew

The fan clutch should turn freely, at least not with ease, it has to oppose some resistance, yet still turn. If it doesn't oppose any resistance, it's gone.
