So does anyone know how to find out what the oil life is? All I can gather from the manual is to look in the "system check" menu, and all I get from there is "OK".
Is there any way to get a percentage like Honda and Chevy do?
I was planning on changing my oil every 5000 miles. I was wondering if that is a little overkill. As this my first diesel what is the average miles to change the oil.
That's what I've done. I sent the oil samples and got test done on my 2003. The oil broke down usually between the 6000 and and 7000 mile range. So I always try to change it when I hit 5000. It's easy to remember by just looking at my mileage 5k, 10k, 15k, 20k I don't need a sticker in the corner of the window reminding me when my next oil change is.
My dealer offers life time oil changes on all fords sold at the dealership (which can add up after awhile). I hope I can talk them into 5000 mile oil changes or perhaps me paying for every other oil change. Thanks for the advice.
Just hit 5k miles. Went to my dealer this PM to change the oil(first is free and every otherone afterone as well). Was told I didn't have to change it until a automated notice came on. They are seeing the notices from 6 to 7500 miles. Decided to wait to see what type of message I will get.
