Ok, VIN location question... again.

Sorry, I saw a hundred VIN questions, but several mentions of VINs in or around the glove box. Is there any pictures of where this is located? I don't see anything there... and this truck 'appears' fairly unmolested.
Also, I see that the identification plate on the driver's door jamb is screwed on, but that seems to be fairly common. Is it common, or always like that?

Thanks,
Mike

So that was the only ID plate? I figured there was two... even my 57 Chevy has a vin tag riveted on, and an ID plate in the engine compartment.
I got worried when I couldn't find a specific VIN tag and the ID plate was screwed on!
But the DMV said my truck was clear, and thankfully, it was even put on NonOp... cause it's last registration was 2000!

Thanks!

One thing I thought was really cool was there was a mess of registrations in a plastic holder strapped to the steering column. They went back to the early 60s!

The glovebox plate is a real thin strip held on by some tiny screws. It would be really easy to lose/damage it if it ever got removed for any reason. I also have the door jamb one as above, and another similar plate on the engine side of the firewall on the drivers side

on a 56, the vin plate is mounted on the forward body side drivers door post, between the hinges. Not on the glovebox door.
screwed on.. olden days people weren't stealing vin tags or switching vins..

I sure as heck wish I lived back then. I love modern conveniences... but I think I'd trade them all in for trustworthy neighbors and friends.

You don't think? I'd say there's a reason why we have the laws regarding the attachment and location of tags we do today.
