4x4 problems on my 83

4x4 problems on my 83
Its snowy out so I decided to put my truck in 4x4 to get a round a lil easier. I locked my hubs and put the 4x4 shifter into what i thought was 4x4 high. Although it definently wasn't in 4x4. So i put my truck in nuetral an dshift to 4x4 low and then try that.. Works like a charm.. So i go from 4x4 low into high. it goes. Now im in 4x4 high but it keeps jumping out of 4x4 high.. Im thinking that there is something wrong with the 4x4 shifter maybe teh shifter fork is bent.. outa adjustment. My truck has 150,000 miles but hav ebeen regularly maintenced.. So any imput of sites for information that deals with this would be a great help.. Thanks
