My 96 Stroker with 137k is sputtering. I just changed the orings on the injectors and one injector because it wasnt working and it was smoking at an idle and i was advised to do so. It now runs much better and doesn't smoke at an idle anymore. But when i try to accelerate you can feel the truck choke or sputter and at the same time you will see it puff blue smoke out the tailpipe. It will immediately clear up and run fine until i try to accelerate hard again. I put some fuel additive in it. But i dont' know, any ideas?
How many miles since the change? Did you lube up the new o-rings before installing them? If you haven't gone 50+ miles you may just have air in the rails.
Brand New Fuel Filter
Fresh Oil and Filter with oil additive
Seafoam Fuel Treatment
I cleaned the screen on the fpr, Fuel pressure is 48lbs. and yes i did soak the injectors in oil before installing. Hopefully like yal said it will get better as i drive it. Thanks for the help
Oil additives are generally not a good idea in our HEUI injection system. How much additive did you put in and what kind was it? Aftermarket oil additives typically don't contain the anti-foaming additive that's required to keep our oil from foaming under high pressure.
I think Oldbird was saying it took 200 miles before his cleared up after putting injectors in. It's not just about driving it, you gotta run it kinda hard, and the start/stop cycles help too.
If you put the regular Lucas oil additive in you'll have foaming issues. The synthetic has anti-foaming agents, but I don't run oil additives at all. Fuel additives yes! Oil, no...
I don't have a problem at start up. It cranks right up but when it first cranks it kind of knocks for about 4 seconds then clears up. It smokes blue on first crank and not much power until I blow it out.
